The Institute of Health Programs and Systems (IHPS) is a South African non-profit company (NPC) born out of the PEPFAR CDC Track 1 transition of the ICAP, Columbia University, Multi-country AIDS Program (MCAP) in South Africa in 2010. IHPS was established with a mission “to strengthen health and development systems through program implementation and partnerships” and, the vision is to ensure “optimal and sustainable health and development outcomes”. IHPS is a current Global Fund Subrecipient under the National Department of Health (NDoH), tasked to implement the Tuberculosis (TB) Program in the Johannesburg (JHB) Health District in Gauteng Province and Kenneth Kaunda District in the North West Province starting April 2022 ending March 2025. On behalf of the NDoH, IHPS seeks to recruit for the position outlined below:

Overall Responsibility
This Data Capturer position will be placed in the PDoH Medico Legal Unit offices to capture data on the medico-legal cases in the respective provinces. The Data Capturer will perform data capturing and other related data management activities as assigned by the PDoH Medico Legal Unit or Head of Legal Services.
- Capturing medico-legal cases data onto the PDoH Medico Legal Unit prescribed platform.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly medico-legal data for reporting.
- Carry out filing and other medico-legal administrative duties as required by the PDoH Medico Legal Unit Managers or Head of Legal Services.
- Actively participate in the planning and forecasting of daily medico-legal data capturing activities.
- Support the compilation of medico-legal reports as required by PDoH Medico Legal Unit Managers or Head of Legal Services
- Ensure accurate capturing of data and timely reporting as per PDoH Medico Legal Unit guidance.
- Manage the medico-legal information in line with South Africa’s POPI Act
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- NQF level 6 or equivalent qualification in data management or statistics, health, public health, social sciences, information technology, or related field will be an advantage.
- At least two years’ experience in data capturing and reporting.
- Experience in Microsoft Packages
- Willingness to work after hours
- Ability to capture data using an electronic platform.
- Knowledge of capturing data in any health information management systems will be an added advantage.
- Computer literacy and excellent keyboarding (both speed and accuracy) is essential.
- Good interpersonal skills and a team player.
- Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree and proof of current registration with SAPC
- Postgraduate degree in Clinical Pharmacy would be an added advantage
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a pharmacist after registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Relevant experience in hospital pharmacy, retail sector, and NGO environment
- Management or supervisory experience
- Experience and knowledge of QI systems and project management
- Leadership and Generic management competencies and experience
- Sound knowledge of GPP, Medicine and Related Substance Act, and the Pharmacy Act
- Knowledge and experience in procurement, supply chain management (SCM), and inventory management
- Innovative thinking, initiative, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work with the multidisciplinary team
- Good writing and presentation skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel and work irregular hours
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive
