The Institute of Health Programs and Systems (IHPS) is a South African non-profit company (NPC) born out of the PEPFAR CDC Track 1 transition of the ICAP, Columbia University, Multi-country AIDS Program (MCAP) in South Africa in 2010. IHPS was established with a mission “to strengthen health and development systems through program implementation and partnerships” and, the vision is to ensure “optimal and sustainable health and development outcomes”. IHPS is a current Global Fund (GF) Subrecipient (SR) under the National Department of Health (NDoH), tasked to implement the Tuberculosis (TB) Program in the Johannesburg (JHB) Health District in Gauteng Province (GP) and Kenneth Kaunda District in the North West (NW) Province starting April 2022 ending March 2025. As such, IHPS seeks to recruit for the position outlined below, to be based at Head Office.

IT Administrator

Overall Responsibility

The IT Administrator will be responsible for providing first tier internal information technology (IT) support and coordinating all external IT support in accordance with the IHPS IT policy, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols. In addition, the IT Administrator will develop new or enhance existing IT related program tools for improved work efficiencies across all IHPS workstreams

Key Performance Areas:
  • Provide first line internal IT support and troubleshooting in line with IHPS IT support protocol/ SOP
  • Attend to approved IT support queries within 12 – 24 hours
  • Manage and support the day-to-day application of the IHPS IT support call logging systems 
  • Provide remote/ virtual IT support using appropriate applications e.g., TeamViewer, Teams, etc.
  • Work closely with the IHPS office/ project administrators and other designated personnel to manage/ coordinate region specific IT support calls
  • Closely monitor and track progress of IT support calls logged until resolution
  • Create IHPS e-mail addresses for new employees in accordance with IHPS IT SOP/ protocol, in close collaboration with Human Resources and Line Managers.
  • Escalate or direct IT support calls to external or second line of support in accordance with the IHPS IT Support protocol/ SOP
  • Make recommendations to close any IT support gaps identified including introduction of and training on new applications and technologies.
  • Liaise with external IT suppliers and service providers, based on IT support needs identified.
  • Work closely with relevant IHPS staff (i.e., finance, procurement, programs) to solicit competitive and economical IT related quotes from suppliers/ service providers.  
  • As necessary, physically travel to IHPS district/ subdistrict offices to provide IT support.
  • Conduct any other duties as assigned by IHPS management
Qualifications:
  • Diploma or Certificate in Information technology (IT)
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
  • At least two to three years’ experience in IT 
  • Demonstrated work experience in providing first line IT support is required
  • Advanced qualification in information technology would be an advantage
  • Valid Code 08 driver’s license
Technical Competencies
  • Technical IT support skills
  • A team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
